With almost £1 Million of funding from the football foundation a new mini soccer centre comprising 20 football pitches, a changing pavilion, outdoor store and car parking was completed at Newbottle in October 2010. The funding supplied to the Russell Foster Tyne & Wear Sports Foundation will provide a new home for the Russell Foster Tyne & Wear Youth Leagues which, over thirty years, has grown to be the largest youth league in the country involving 10,000 children.
Sustain Landscapes were contracted by Dorin Construction to lay 2,750m2 of GRB PLUS to the main and overspill car parks as well as surrounding access areas. Sustain Landscapes recommended GRB PLUS to the Client, the product was specifically chosen for its environmental attributes as well as excellent drainage properties.
The works involved:
- Laying the GRB interlocking system on 250mm sub-base overlain with root zone.
- Backfilling with root zone and over seeding.
- The works were completed to a three week programme.
