Harton Quays Park, South Shields

Harton Quays Park is the first phase of South Tyneside Council’s Riverside Regeneration Strategy and is designed with the aim of providing additional amenity to the area, a cultural focus and spaces for events. Sustain Landscapes implemented the high specification soft landscaping package, which includes structural grass and floral mixes to provide a barcode of colour, as well as a dramatic pine grove viewing point. Lawned areas frame key views across the estuary and park, as well as providing spectator areas for events spaces. The park, which has received a CEEQUAL Award for Sustainability, will be maintained by Sustain Landscapes for five years following the completion of construction works.

The works involved:

  • Specimen tree planting to pine grove viewing area, water feature and soft landscaping area with above and below ground anchoring systems
  • Topsoil amelioration
  • Planting of structural grass and floral ribbon planting

  • Turfing & Grass Seeding
  • Grounds Maintenance
